Project Description::

In 1992, Brian Zulaikha exhibited in collaboration with the artist Adrian Hall in the Synthesis Project, a collaborative project involving artists and architects held at the Bond Store in Millers Point. Adrian Hall is an artist with a strong concern for content in his work and some considerable experience in the use of reinforcing steel. During the many discussions that followed, Hall realised that some of this steel was stored in his office.

The idea of using reinforcing steel for this installation did not directly come, however, from these sources. It became increasingly apparent to both artists that the installation was beginning to evoke, and even indicate their concern for the absolute waste and emptiness of these majestic industrial structures such as the Bond Store, awaiting either their demolition or some unknown development. This work is therefore concerned with heritage and conservation and the proper use of our inherited culture.

The installation was accompanied by verses that began:__ad – infinitum_past / present / future_past past / past present / past future_future past / future present / future future_impending impacting imperfect impossible_pressure / strain / unease / anxiety / no beginning no end_ad – infinitum __
