Project Description::
Tonkin Zulaikha Greer’s submission for the East Darling Harbour Urban Design Competition presented a design that acknowledges and interprets the past, but looks to the future. A vanished landform is recalled, a great urban project reinvented.
The submission proposed preserving much of the land for a grand new park, perhaps the only remaining chance in the City’s West. A major tower preserves precious views of the harbour and allows the creation of a sculpted landform that meshes 21st century multifunctions with a grand sweep of waterfront open space, uniting active and passive uses. A tidal artwork, generating power, re-establishes an infilled cove.
